Delete time restriction

You can set a time restriction on editing posts, but how about deleting them?

Every now and then, a user makes a post in the wrong section and edits it out asking a moderator to delete it, or accidentally makes a double post here an there, but here is no "safe" way to give basic members delete permissions.

Why not allow members to delete their posts within a time limit, just as you can with editing?

In a sense. You could just let users "hide" posts, but I like the idea of being able to let users actually delete their posts within a time limit and not have to worry about monitoring all posts that are hidden to check for abuse.

agreed......Just as stated post can be edited in a time frame.......so a soft delete would be a great ideal....and even more so when some people post in anger and 10 minutes later go ohmy...lol.....
And make your mod's job a little easier.....just say'in

It might also make sense to give users the ability to delete started threads simply until a response is posted.
