+1 on the original post. The management of emoticons kinda sucks as it is but I don't find it an important issue to deal with, not for now at least.

The current emoticon management method is an embarrassment to the otherwise stellar software.

I don't why know IPB doesn't think that this is an issue, however, since V not only produces software but also runs a lot of their own sites, they understand that managing emoticons matters to site publishers.

We'll probably revise it for 4.0.

I am slowly tweaking how IP.Board functions but have to admit better emoticon management would be nice.
