Steph40 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Nop I'm on spectrum updated for 3.3. Default skin doesnt wanna show anymore even if I make it default.
Robert Simons Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 issue resolved .. Content users .. make sure you DO NOT disable the IP.Content Bar .. this hook being disabled does seem to effect the ProMenu output..though not sure as to WHY this would happen
Dmacleo Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 would having ccs set as default app in initdata make this happen? its disabled in mine and works albeit older hook due to skin not updated, but I am NOT using ccs as default app in intidata
Robert Simons Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 using the older hook is why you don't see it...you shouldn't be running that older hook..it will cause you issues..update it too 1.1.5 and update your themes
KevinMc Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I'm not sure if this has already been discussed or not; I don't have the time to sift through 33 pages of support. I like the menu, it looks great. On your demo site though, and probably the same with your downloaded modification, the menu images are extremely inefficient. Here's what you have, along with some corrective criticism: - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 3.62 KB (3,707 bytes) [*] - 256px × 256px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 18.45 KB (18,894 bytes) [*] - 256px × 256px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 17.77 KB (18,197 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 2.3 KB (2,356 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 5.76 KB (5,899 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 4.38 KB (4,490 bytes) [*] - 256px × 256px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 30.01 KB (30,735 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 5.08 KB (5,203 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 7.28 KB (7,454 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 8 KB (8,191 bytes) [*] - 256px × 256px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 10.39 KB (10,637 bytes) [*] - 256px × 256px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 29.83 KB (30,549 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 8 KB (8,191 bytes) [*] - 64px × 64px, scaled down in HTML to 14px × 14px, 4.35 KB (4,454 bytes) Sir, you're asking the server to request 14 separate image requests alone, for the menu only. This doesn't include any other images that have to be requested during page load. Additionally, these 14 individual requests are a total of 155.22 KB. Not only that, but they're PNG formats. My suggestion is to resize all of your images to 14px × 14px, instead of having the Browser scale them down. I went ahead and took the liberty of resizing them all to 14px × 14px. I would suggest that you replace what you have with these. Just so you are aware, all of the 14 icons I resized for you make up a combined size of 12.0 KB (12,310 bytes). You can do the math to see what you're now saving. Anyway, you can also take out the inline HTML styling that you have to scale down the images since they're now at 14px × 14px. Remove this: width="14px" height="14px" Lastly, I wouldn't stop there. Although this optimized the total load size of the images, there are still 14 individual requests that are being made. If you really want to get fancy, you can create a sprite image for all of those, which would knock the 14 requests down to a single request. Now this, sir, is what I would do but that's just me. Robert Simons Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Are these images included in the $10 download? the ones I offer as a courtesy .. yes .. not the ones you just created .. users are more than welcome to use yours ... as I said..they are there just as a courtesy
KevinMc Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 the ones I offer as a courtesy .. yes .. not the ones you just created .. users are more than welcome to use yours ... as I said..they are there just as a courtesy I'd still replace your images with the ones I created. I mean, those are decent multi-purpose images. If members who purchase your menu like the icons, they wouldn't have to worry about having to do additional work to have them optimized.

Robert Simons Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 waiting on skin author for that, got a few from the author to be done. most non 3.3 themes on a 3.3 build will produce other issues ... like the theme selector breaks on most 3.2 based themes on 3.3 (at least ones I have tested against)
