connorhawke Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 1) Why are reviews moderated? 2) Why is a user not allowed to update their rating for a product? Surely it's recognized that someone's experience with a product can change over time and over different versions, as in the case of a paid product that initially seemed to work fine but then later caused major issues that required manual database intervention and/or manual editing of encoded files to resolve, even when the product was used as intended?
Michael Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 1) Because lots of people use the reviews section to try and get technical support. Reviews should be just that: reviews of the product. Technical support should be done in the support topic. We moderate them to weed out comments that are not appropriate. But we don't just delete any negative comments, and accept positive ones, we allow any legitimate reviews. 2) Are you referring to the star rating, or being able to edit a comment? Both may be questions better suited to the IP.Downloads feedback forum, as that's all the Marketplace is really.

Michael Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Then yes, you'd need to post in the IP.Downloads forum about that. Any IP.Board application that uses the rating system has an option set in the javascript code that determines whether the usage of the rating system in the context of that app allows for people to change their vote. If the Marketplace doesn't allow this, that means IP.Downloads doesn't allow it by default, and you'd want to request IPS change that.
bfarber Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 IP.Downloads does not support updating your rating in the current version. It's something we're considering changing for a future version.
