Multiple Chat Rooms

Hi,

Please add the feature of having multiple chat rooms. I think this is an important feature and would be a great addition to chat too.


I have chat installed, however members on my forum are going to IRC for this feature.

I like this idea a lot.

And be able to set permissions for each "chatroom" so that you can have like one general chat, one staff chat, etc.

Yes! This would be a great idea, so you don't always have to have "Private" conversations between Admins/Moderators on the forums. As well as many other uses that could be used with multi-chat room options.

On PHPBB anyone could set up their own chatroom within the chat and use a password systen to invite selected members only.

Multiple channels like what you have available on IRC would be pretty tough to do as IPS doesn't use an IRC server.

Your best bet would be to use (IM) IRC-Chat which lets you connect your forum to any public IRC servers. On public IRC servers you can join any available channel, or on most, simply create a room out of thin air by specifying a new room with:

/join #RoomName
