MissNinja Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 My boyfriend and I were talking about this mod, and we were thinking it would be really cool if you could implement some kind of status ailment thing to go with the RPG theme. Poisoning, paralysis, burn, etc. Depending on your level (or your MP?), you could maybe give other members a status ailment or cure your own. Perhaps if you fill your MP bar completely, you are able to cast one "spell" that day that either cures you of an ailment or gives someone else one. We didn't really think about specifics beyond that, but I thought I'd offer it as a suggestion because I think it could be a cool addition that further encourages posting. :)
Chris Christian Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 I was thinking about something like that. The problem is that I don't want to add sql queries or make use of a database with this mod. I want it to be simple and lightweight as much as possible. But, I think I know how to circumvent this to implement something like that. I'm also planning to change the name of this mod to something more apropriate, because RPG-S is gradually expanding beyond the original idea. So far, this is what I have in mind for the next version (RPG Status 2.1):Simple Points SystemSimple Achievements SystemMore Definitions for HP/MPSimple Status EffectsTwo more Ranks Of course I can't guarantee that all of these will be in version 2.1, but we will see. :)
MissNinja Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 That would be so awesome. I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with! :D I'm definitely planning on donating if I have money to spare this month... money's been really tight, but I really appreciate the work you're putting into this mod. :)
MissNinja Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I'm sure you're sick of me posting in this topic XD I'm not sure what kinds of ideas you have for alternate ways to use the HP/MP bars, but I was thinking in addition to the percentage of board's posts that day suggestion I gave earlier, another good one might be setting a daily post requirement for a full bar (for example, you have to get 25 posts during the 24 hour period in order to have a full MP bar, how full it is depends on how close you are to that limit). But I definitely like the fullness depending more on daily activities, because you see results and changes faster, so how much you post per day actually seems to make a difference, if that makes sense. :)
Chris Christian Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Thanks. If you have any more suggestions, fell free to post. I
merlins lair Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 great mod and great addtion many thanxs look forward to seeing what you will do with this next keep it up :)
Chris Christian Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks. RPG Status 2.1 is now feature freeze. If everything goes well, it will be released next week. :)
Sammy Nicole Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I'm having troubles. I installed this mod, yet it's not showing the mod isn't showing in topics. I followed everything step by step but couldn't get to show on Topic View. I even recached my skins 5 times. Any ideas?
Chris Christian Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 No ideas. This mod is bug free and super easy to install. Check the install steps again (upload files and install via Admin CP), uninstall and reinstall again. This mod is certified to work and compatible only with the IP.Board 3.1.0 or newer version and IPB default skin. Also, before release, I tested this mod with two third party skins with no problems.

Chris Christian Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 It's important to inform you that RPG Status 2.1 "Point System" is A LOT simpler than any other standalone point modifications. Don't expect to see all the features you are accustomed to see in these other standalone point modifications. It's made specifically for RPG Status, and will work only with RPG Status, because it's a built-in feature.

Well all i care for is that it give points to members when they post a topic or reply to topic, don't need all the extra because the point ssytem i'm using right now have to many things i don't care for are even need..so i think you'rs will be simple and that's what i'm looking for ... :)
Chris Christian Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks. I hope it fits your needs. :)
Graphite Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I read the README and this entire thread so I get the general idea that the HP bar is dictated by a user's percentage of the forum's posts, but how is the MP bar calculated?

You can define what MP and HP represent in the mod options in Admin CP. :)
Andrej Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Ever thought about turning this into something like VB has (vbexperience) I think it was called?
Chris Christian Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Ever thought about turning this into something like VB has (vbexperience) I think it was called? Hi! :) I know about vBExperience. I was a vB customer in the past. Sorry, but no. RPG Status will never be something like vBExperience. But, I´m thinking of adding some new features, so that RPG Status turns into a more complete and feature rich RPG mod for IPB, yes.
Graphite Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Well I'm looking forward to seeing any further developments. I'm on the fence whether to install it right now.EDIT: Installed it :] Really great plugin, sorry I bugged you on your profile for help that I ultimately didn't need Dx I guess these are my personal suggestions: * Ability for more than 5 ranks, ability to upload new images directly through ACP * HP bar based on the necessity of X posts per day with a daily reset (ie: 100 possible hit points, calculated based on 5 posts per day, someone who has only posted once today has 20/100 HP) * ^ Piggybacking off the above idea it'd be nice if threads could be valued at X number of posts as far as restoring HP goes * Toggling MP on/off (was easy to edit out via template but just saying ;D ) * Clearer explanation of how many posts it takes per level. (I thought that every X posts made someone level based on ACP setting, but it is obviously a little bit more confusing) * Section that shows you, based on your current settings, how many posts are needed to get to what level. I have a max set at 100 and wanted this to correlate with 10,000 posts but this is almost impossible to calculate.
Graphite Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Can I not delete posts here? :s This was an accident. [Ergh, just found out image dimensions are hard-coded in for ranks ><; No bueno!]
Chris Christian Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. I think version 2.1 will be finished and released in time for Christmas, next week.
