Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Mat Barrie Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 It'd be really good if the badword filters could also apply to usernames and display names (i.e. to prevent someone named 'nether regions of anatomy hole' signing up).
Shrimpkid Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 You can make it so that a user can't register with a certain user name.
3DKiwi Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 We just use Admin validation. Silly and inappropriate names just get deleted. We seldom get any complaints by doing this. 3DKiwi We just use Admin validation. Silly and inappropriate names just get deleted from the validation queue. bfarber Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Just use the ban system under the Members tab instead. You can already pre-ban usernames you don't want to see. I see no point to also applying the badwords list to the usernames, when a comparable system is in place already.

bfarber Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 You can use * as a wildcard (i.e. you could ban *@gmail.com for an email address to prevent any gmail addresses being accepted).
