Booth
I'm currently testing out IPB3 with a few people and one thing I really wanted to do was comment/reply on a member status but couldn't. This is hugely popular on Facebook, so I suspect that's why I just instinctively looked for somewhere to be able to do it. Also perhaps status messages (and their comments/replies) could be archived (when updated) in the users profile comments. Perhaps archived status's could have a prefix "Status update:" and be highlighted by a different colour (like blog authors who post a comment on their own blog entry). I don't know how difficult this would be to implement but I sure would like to see it :)
Management Matt Posted October 27, 2009 Management Share Posted October 27, 2009 Yes, this has something that has come up before. It's something we're considering but it would be a pretty invasive change so I wouldn't expect it with any point releases. :)

Do that mean it'd require quite a lot of rewriting?
bfarber
It would take a good amount of code, yes. He's saying that the amount of code and changes to existing code that would be needed mean that it's not likely we'll introduce this in a 3.0.x version, but possibly later in a future 3.x version
Booth
Thanks for the clarification, so 3.0.1 would be classed as a point release - 3.1.0 wouldn't. Have I got that right? Besides that, if these things are being noted as possibles for future releases it sounds fantastic.
