Custom fields ability been altered?

I have been following a bug in the tracker with deals with custom fields.

In 2.3.6 I have 3 custom fields (for private info) which are displayed and require completion at registration time. Thereafter the member can only see his/her own private custom fields. The admins can always see everyone's private fields.

The fields were added recently. Members who did not complete these fields at registration time (prior to the fields being added) must complete these fields the next time they alter their user settings.

Is this facility being maintained in 3.0?

The following option concerns me.

Make Admin and Super Moderator Editable/Viewable Only?

If yes, will override the above options so only admins and super moderators can see and edit this field.

I had to turn this option on even though in 2.3.6 I had the ability.
Does this mean that the members can no longer edit their own values after registration time?

Yes, it should be @ sunricecc.
If they choose Preferences:
Field can be edited by the member? NO or YES

The Setting .....Make Admin and Super Moderator Editable/Viewable Only?.....makes members after registration fields do not see and can edit.

In my testing of beta 4, if I select the override for admins, the member can no longer edit the fields down the road. Reviewing the bugs also confuses me.
It appears that the facility is no longer the same.

The bottome line is that the Admin/Super Moderator option should be in addition to the above and not the override of the previous options.

I can not understand, as IPS but has old versions of IPB 2.0 and IPB 2.3. Why are not these rights over? The new rules and changes have me very confused and not enthusiastic.
IPB 2.0 and 2.3x:

Include on registration page?
If 'yes', the field will be shown upon registration. OK

Field MUST be completed and not left empty?
If 'yes', an error will be shown if this field is not completed. OK

Field can be edited by the member?
If 'no', the member cannot edit the field but Super Moderators and Admins will be able to. OK

Make this a private profile field?
If yes, field only visible to profile owner, super moderators and admins. If 'no', members can search within this field. OK

Make Admin and Super Moderator Editable/Viewable Only?
If yes, will override the above options so only admins and super moderators can see and edit this field. OK

Please take it so for IPB 3.0. Why is this a problem?
You can see the code, what attitudes and preferences are set and then for IPB 3.0 to take over? wink.gif
I work with many such areas, so it's important for me. smile.gif

I agree. I need the ability as admin to review these fields before I approve the application and once the application is reviewed, the member needs to have the ability to see and alter his own private fields while I can always review/edit them.

If this facility is not in 3.0, I will not be able to upgrade.

It's best to update them on localhost / xampp sample way to IPB 3.0 beta 5.
You can then test whether their desires are possible, before they are regularly updated.

Of course, I would test out the facility first. But Josh's answer to your bug in the tracker sounds like the previous ability (in 2.3.x) is no longer allowed.

That is why I started this topic. Clarification is needed.

If you want members to be able to edit the field you do NOT want to set

Make Admin and Super Moderator Editable/Viewable Only?

This setting does what it says - makes it so that only admins or moderators can edit this field.

This is possible by setting

Field can be edited by the member?

Make this a private profile field?

However, when they want at the registration box will be filled, how do they do then?

If they want that until after the completion of registration, the field only by admin and mods can be dealt with, how do they do that?

You must register at the field show, otherwise they will not be able to change that.

I just tested what Brandon stated. It works as advertised but the fields do not display at registration time. That bug is supposed to be fixed in the next release.

Thank you Brandon.
