Search by topic starter

I'd like the ability to search the board by topic starter (checkbox after 'match exact name' -> "is topic starter" maybe) and assuming there's a PM search in 3.0, also search PMs by sender.

you can do this from the members profile, click on my name and you see the option "find member's topics".

Yes, but it would be nice to add it to the advanced search screen to tweak it even further.

Ex: You want to find the topics you started in the suggestions forum within the last year.

you can almost do this too. put your own name in the name box, click the suggestion forum in the forums drop down, choose the date in the date area however there is no option to show matches in topic first post only. Suppose it wouldn't be hard to add though.

Go to the suggestions forum, look for the dropdowns at the bottom, select "Topics: I Started" from the right-most one, click Go. You can't view just the ones from the past year, but there is a dropdown to let you choose smaller date ranges, or to Show All.

Topics I started versus "Topics started by" are two different things and I think they want the latter where you can search for topics started by a certain poster, not just themself. :D

If you go to advanced search, type the nick wanted, check the "Match Exact Name", don't type anything on the keywords and then select the option "Search titles only" and then perform the search that will give you the topics started by that specific person in any subforum you choose or in the whole forum.

True, but I was just giving a potential solution to the specific example he gave.
