View New Posts - Downloads & Gallery

I have been a happy owner of Downloads and Gallery since they were first released to the public and they have been functioning and working well on my site. Unfortunately ever since the first day of using them I have always wanted to see them intergrated in IPB's View New Posts option to be able to see when new topics or comments have been posted in either the Gallery or Downloads. I have been quite happy to sit and wait it out hoping that someone at IPS would come up with the idea or figure out the option is just missing but it hasn't happened :(

There is no such feature in these modules, the only thing close to it is, "Recent Comments" in the Gallery but I think these modules should be better intergrated in IPB. Sometimes it is impossible to keep track of new comments and topics in those areas on large sites. People can easily post rubbish, spam, etc. The only time an admin or moderator will know is when someone has taken the time to report the offending post or topic. The only time I ever know anyone has ever posted any topics or comments in those areas is when I take the time to sift through them.

Personally I think it is a long overdue feature and it is quite a tiring exercise without it. Please adopt it!!

I couldn't agree more especially in regard to the gallery. Members that I talk to at my site want to view all new gallery images just as they would view all new forum messages then mark them as read.

I think however I would have a seperate view new gallery images button rather than having it in with the forum posts.

These are things we'd like to see as well, however they require massive overhauls to IPB itself. Something we'd like to shoot for with 3.0.
