thidepxinh Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Hi, I'm currently having a IPB v2.2.0 board. And i would like to upgrade to v2.3.0 may i know that does it means that i have to pay again to have a upgrade to IPB v2.3?
The Clash Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 http://invisionpower.com/customer/If you have an active license, then no.
thidepxinh Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 active license is only for 6 months right? omg i think mine is going to be expired in this few days time!
Terry - AKA Dumbledore Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 If you need them to upgrade it for you then go ahead and submitt a request. I would think they will honor it as long as you lis. was valid at the time of the request. If you can install it yourself, go ahead and download the latest copy, you will still have the right to upgrade your code, because your lis. was valid at time of release.

Digi Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Upgrades are free to those with active SLAs (service level agreements...aka support contracts) unless something has changed recently. After your support/update contract expires you will not have access to the download area for that license. However, if you download it now yourself, you will be allowed to use the last version available to you. In this case it is 2.3.
thidepxinh Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 So that's mean that i have to login the client area to download the v2.3 files? after i download it wat must i do next??

riven3d Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 you have to pay the invoice, then you can download the new version.

krang Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Just another question about updating from 2.2 to 2.3:Can I just overwrite every folder? I will not overwrite folders like the emoticons because of using my own... But can I just overwrite stuff like /sources/ ? I don't want to get to every updated file and upload it one by one... ;) And I don't have to use any upgrade scripts since the database hasn't changed?thanks
Digi Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 You can upload all files, except image files as you noted (though you should actually create a separate emote group for your own purposes). I'm not sure on DB changes, but some of the post data has changed (due to how bbcode is now handled) so you will want to run the upgrader script as usual.
Dark Phantom Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 is it free? or must i pay?If you have an active license then you already paid, if your license is not active then you would have to pay $25 for another 6 months of support and upgrades.
thidepxinh Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 OMG all my mod are gone after the upgrade to v2.3!!!!!!!!!!
travis2 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 whenever you upgrade to a new version, you need to watch what files you upload. You are overwriting all your files so of course the mods you have installed are going to be affected if you are uploading any new file over the older files...Just have to re-install them now.

Primed Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Do 2.2 mods even work with 2.3? o.OSome will, some won't. A little over half the mods I have on my 2.2 forum work on 2.3 still.

I like the new skin and I'm happy to use it on my board. :)
