FourierXForm Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I am beginning to beta test IPB 2.2 and set up a second MySQL instance on our servers which listens on a different port. How do I configure IPB to connect to MySQL on this port? Thanks!
bfarber Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Please post this question on IPS Beyond. It is certainly possible, however this isn't really feedback for IPB 2.2 :)
Stuart Elliott Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Why run multiple MySQL instances?, just create a different database and point it at that..

ZuCruTrooper2 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Why run multiple MySQL instances?, just create a different database and point it at that..Well, he mentioned that he is beta testing, so he might have MySQL 5.1 running on one port/socket and MySQL 5.0 on another.
bfarber Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Or he could be working on load-balancing, or any number of things. It's really irrelevant. :) I can see multiple possible reasons for wanting to use the feature.
FourierXForm Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Just as an FYI, for those who want to know. Yes, I have a production version of IPB using MySQL v4.0 and now I am beta testing 2.2 with MySQL 5.0 on the same box. :)
