Cool Surfer Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I am creating some rss feeds, have already created 50 rss feeds forumsbut they are all on a single page, would really appreciate if after 20 or 30 rss feeds - in import rss section, a new page starts automatically.Would this qualify for a bug ?
.KX Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 And here's me wondering why the hell you'd have that many feeds?
Cool Surfer Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 And here's me wondering why the hell you'd have that many feeds? Its a scientific forum, and its not possible to post news and latest dev's manually. Its just not possible.Wanna have a look at it?http://onlinemedicalforum.com
Cool Surfer Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 This is not easy to manage, so many RSS listed on a single page. Will it remain the way it is?Any official reply pl. My browser almost hangs, and am sure it is gonna crash when 1000 rss topics try to open on a single page. :(=============AcneAcne RSS feedAcromegalyAcromegaly RSS feedAddictionAddiction RSS Cool Surfer Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Is anyone going to comment officially on this issue pl?
Mat Barrie Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm trying to understand the question. Is there a problem with the RSS topics not paging? I had a look at your "Jobs Abroad" section which (illegally, might I add) uses Seek's RSS feed, and it pages fine. You do need to be more specific if you want help. Is your problem in the Topic View, Forum View, or AdminCP?If you're referring to (for some reason) having 50 subforums of a category, and wanting them to page, that's not a bug - it's a feature request, and should be in the feature request forum.BTW, they never reply to Feature Suggestion posts, unless they vehemently disagree with them. There simply isn't the time.
Cool Surfer Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I had a look at your "Jobs Abroad" section which (illegally, might I add) uses Seek's RSS feed, and it pages fine. How is that illegal? You mean I am displaying the rss ?I'm trying to understand the question. Is there a problem with the RSS topics not paging? You do need to be more specific if you want help. Maybe I was not clear. No matter how many rss feeds i create in admin cp, there is no second page. All rss feeds are on a SINGLE page in admin cp and it is slowing my working in admin cp.Maybe if there were page no2, 3 ,4 etc also. Does it make some sense now?
Cool Surfer Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I will upload the snap shots if need be.pl check www.onlinemedicalforum.com/rss-suggest , imagine how many times u have to hit page down to reach rss streams startigwith zI have to add more. Now it cant be that naive explanation that this was just a basicrss feature, like the spoiler tags, so they wont improvise on it.
Mat Barrie Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 How is that illegal? You mean I am displaying the rss ?Yes. The terms and conditions of that site specify that you must have their prior written permission to redistribute their information on your own site.ok, Its the admin cp issue. Does it make some sense now? :unsure:It does, and I can see why you would want to do something about it. To my knowledge though, there's no part of the ACP where there IS multiple pages so this really is a feature request rather than a bug. I think you'll find, though, that you'll have a lot of support from other administrators if you suggest it.
Cool Surfer Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks for understanding.BTW I never said it was a bug. I am just requesting somebody official to takea look at the problem and add this feature.
Mat Barrie Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks for understanding.BTW I never said it was a bug. I am just requesting somebody official to takea look at the problem and add this feature.Yeah, I'm saying you want to do that in the feature suggestions forum though. 2.2 is feature locked, so there's no way it'll make it in, but it may make 3.0.Just remember, they wont reply to feature suggestions threads though, but they do read them.
Cool Surfer Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Just remember, they wont reply to feature suggestions threads though, but they do read them.v bad >_<
bfarber Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Actually, go ahead and submit it as a bug.Pagination is setup in the ACP - look at the admin logs for an individual admin, or any of the logs for that matter. When the RSS import feed was setup, we figured you might have a max of 10, or at an extreme 20, feeds imported. I mean, this is a bulletin board for your member's to post at - not a dumping ground for every RSS feed on the internet. Still, if it's a problem, which I would say in your case it would be, it should be paginated.
Cool Surfer Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Thanks Brandon, I have posted it as a bug.I know forums are supposed to be for members, but in my case I need to have my library uptodate as things change so quickly and it is virtually impossible to supply members with latest updates. Infact RSS addition in admin cp wa sone factor why I purchased perpetual license :)
Cool Surfer Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 WOW!! ... where are the instructions to do the changes in php files pl.
bfarber Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Heh, I'm afraid I'm a bit too busy right now to provide manual instructions. Just wait till the next release of 2.2 and it will be included then.
Cool Surfer Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Thank you. I shall wait then. :sweating:
Cool Surfer Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Hi BrandonIf this final release is going to take some time, then can you tell me where to do the changes pl.I am not working or adding anymore rss for the time being as I thought final would be out soon.Shall appreciate. Regards
