Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted October 18, 200618 yr How difficult would it be to add a permission to allow specific member groups to see anonymous members in the online user list? I've seen a couple mods for this for 2.1, but I don't see why this isn't an option in the stock forum package.
October 18, 200618 yr Because it wouldn't be very anonymous if any particular group could be set to view them.If a particular board needs certain groups to view anonymous members, I say they should continue installing the mod to do so. Everybody that is familiar with the anonymous member feature is used to being hidden from all groups but the admins, and to undo that in a stock installation would undermine the usefulness of the function.
October 18, 200618 yr I disagree.. again, it comes down to stock functionality. There's nothing wrong with leaving the defaults as they are now, but it would be great to have the option to change it.It wouldn't be all that big of a deal logistically. Right beneath the explanation text for "Log in as invisible" it could easily say "You will still be visible to the following member groups: xxxxxx"That offers the best of both worlds, doesn't it?
December 16, 200618 yr I can login as admin and still don't see anonymous users. Do you have to set it up some where?
December 17, 200618 yr I can login as admin and still don't see anonymous users. Do you have to set it up some where? There is an option in the ACP to allow Root Admin's to see Anonymous users.
December 17, 200618 yr Thanks. Where is it located? There is an option in the ACP to allow Root Admin's to see Anonymous users.I found it!
December 17, 200618 yr I would of told you if support was allowed :) Glad you found it anyway. To the OP, I think Mods are more appropriate than implementing this into the software.
