gladding Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Our community sites really take off sometimes, it only makes sense to have a "MySpace" type of feature on InvisionBoards. Something that can connect your blog and profile, you can upload photos, have buddy lists... there is something kind of like this now but nothing that users feel compelled to really fill out their profile. If IPB had this, it would really add a lot to the value of InvisionBoards.
Bradyok Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 This is the best idea i've heard in a long time, but don't know how well they could do this.
robirming Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I agree. A tight integration between the products with a userfriendly layout.
bfarber Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 All of the products are already integrated. In the profile you see a link to the person's blog if they have one, and you see a link to their album for gallery if they have one (I believe at least). What is it you want to see expanded upon exactly?
//Nathan Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Well - and I'm not speaking for the original poster - the difference I see in MySpace and IPB is that with MySpace, you have millions of members, but you can only "see" the forum posts of those who you're "Friends" with. MySpace is an interesting idea, but IPB owns it through and through. The probelm with putting a MySpace clone on your IPB is that you would alienate all your members from one another until they seek them out. MySpace does have a central forum, but the bulletin (named as such) is just for within friends. So MySpace is OK - on MySpace.com. Something like that just would not work on a forum with less than 10,000 active members (where it might help).
robirming Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 ...and you see a link to their album for gallery if they have one (I believe at least). That's probably the most wanted feature for the gallery. Still not added in though.
RObiN-HoOD Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 For my perspective MyViewNewPosts (or View New Posts personalization) base on the members' forum choices.
