  1. Hello,

I just logged into the Client Area and noticed that my renewal on 8/31 was canceled. This is odd as my card was charged, and my license shows that it has been renewed into May 2024. Additionally, I’m seeing a set of “V5 upgrades” being charged. Can you help me understand what these are and what’s happening? After renewing, my forum now hasn't been working correctly in addition to these questions and I'm trying to troubleshoot it.

    Thank you,

Yes, in that case...  it was most likely the user using the same password across multiple sites where another site had a data breach.

Which site had a data breach? I've been curious trying to track it.

I would be more inclined to believe it was a data breach elsewhere if it was long term member accounts that had historically been active and participating on your site suddenly spamming. But an account that was registered and never used that surfaces months later does not scream external data breach.

In our case we had two long term members who post daily and their account was compromised and started spamming two days ago; same IP and quotes from above...

This is already doable. But it sounds like you want albums OUTSIDE of categories. So Category-less albums.

You can already restrict the number of albums and the number of images in each album. See image above.

Yeah. I don't understand the requirement for categories. I think members should have a set limit of albums and images they can post in them. But I don't get why they have to be sorted by categories and why albums can't just be listed and below that random image list of new images/ updated albums.

So what you're suggesting is a way for members to create albums of images, from their profile, disconnected from a category within the software. Is that effectively correct?

No that wasn't what I was suggesting.

The Gallery tab on main forum be a directory for members uploaded albums that they would access/ do on their own page. So it would not disconnect. There could be a "Gallery" tab and albums that are fronted as site owners/ promoted albums and than a list from there of members who have uploaded on their profiles their albums, and depending on what the member selected (i.e follow, register member of site, pubic/ non signed in); they have that ability, themselves, as content uploader to decide -who- gets to see that image in their album.

But how members would access making an album could be on the gallery itself or their profile. I feel this would make things a lot cleaner, and effectively allow members to control their privacy of their content (like image shown above by Morrigan), sorry it was a double suggestion.

    1. Make it so that only members can create albums (not the pre-templated ones admins do); and make it so admins can prefix how many albums/ images members can upload through albums. E.g 2-3 albums total 50 images all together per member.

    2. Privacy setting per member and their preference.

You mean like via the "Albums" tab in a profile?

Kind of. I have a health related site, and so the Gallery tab can be on the main page as a directory, and the album tab on user profiles, with members being able to create only a certain amount of albums/ upload a certain amount of images via their own album(s).

I run a non profit health site and so members also want that to toggle with the ability to have their images within their privacy control (i.e "just them", "followers/ friends" they accept; to site members, public). Which they've request this toggle for profile details (such as "about me", statuses, blogs, visitor list, friends/ following list, who can PM them) all which I feel are reasonable privacy expectations to have adjustments on what you wants others to see etc.

I know IPB creators don't see the connection between the friends/ follower difference; but taking that away, took away members ability to have the privacy they wanted on their accounts and felt safe with.

  7. I noticed on clubs you take the threads and place them into forum subforms. I feel the blogs take away from the community (i.e members making blogs about subforms that are already created); and need to be pushed into posting more on the forum. When I try to convert them I get this (is it a bug?) it shows "community" and so I assume there was a easy way to convert them -- it also allows me to move them into clubs said members are in:

    Thanks 🙂

  8. Hello 🙂

We have a non-profit support site that is currently on vB that we customized quite a bit and we are looking for someone to help us re-create the theme of our customize template for IPB in a modern form style so members feel comfortable with the switch to IPB.

Please PM for further information if your curious about the job 🙂
