The reality there is, given it works everywhere but your site, and if you have tested with no 3rd party involved at all, and you can upload fine when its not uploading in another format, it can only really be when your server converting the file. While its odd its happening both on GD and on Imagemagick, its  the only conclusion that can really be made here, as It's the only thing different

Maybe the versions of GD/Imagemagick are different on this server than the one hosting my stuff... In theory it should not, but who knows, maybe a freak extreme case. Also I notice there's lots of entries in the system logs ... maybe there's something in there.

It should be relatively instantaneous, depending on what is being changed. At most it may take the cache length of the page to take effect.

I disabled all my plugins, all applications and used the default theme... and still get a black image when uploading from the iPhone....

As you were able to upload the image fine here, there is something specific with your installation which is the cause here. Both here and your community run Cloud, there is nothing underneath which is causing an issue. I would advise disabling all third party applications/plugins, switching to an unmodified theme, and ensure that you do not have any resizing going on in ACP -> System -> Posting as a temporary test.

Please see my workaround above... has nothing to do with plugins which I already disabled.

  4. Ok I found a workaround....

On the iPhone --> Settings --> Camera --> Formats

If the setting is High Efficiency it will give black images when uploaded to invision server.

The workaround is to change it to "Most Compatible"

That kinda suck because you loose the original DNG file...

Could contain: Text, Smoke Pipe, Page

I would recommend disabling what is creating the watermark there as that is not a core feature outside of Gallery.

Already tried it... its not that.

What I can see is that the process of transforming a DNG to JPG on iPhone, then upload on invision creates a black image.

When I send the DNG, convert it to JPG on my MacBook, then upload it to invision ... it works.

Invision doesn't like the "flavour" of JPG the iPhone produces.

The above 2 are the only 2 things it can really be. Given you can upload here, I suspect this is probably the latter

I just switched to GD,... same

I switched off the watermark plugin... same too.

So these two things are irrelevant to the images being black 😞

2 million posts are when we hard require it. There are some further limits in between.

This is the type of information that should be provided when someone signs up for cloud... and in any case I'm under 0.5M posts... still not sure why I have a "hard archive" imposed.

Really depends how much content you have to unarchive and how many users frequent your site regularly to keep that task running.

If you have examples where archiving missed a topic but has unarchived topics surrounding it chronologically, we can take a look at that as well.

Thanks for the quick response.... there's about 12900 topics (not all archived for sure) and always about 40-50 users at once.

Its really hard for me to observe which is unarchived or not, I can see stuff from 2019 still archived... my forum goes back to 2007.

If there was a widget that showed a counter, it would be much easier to keep an eye on it, and see if its "stuck" and at which rate it's doing it.

The intent of the background task is to go slowly so it can take quite some time depending on how many tasks it has to unarchive but it will go newest to oldest.

Weeks later...threads are still archived... how slow is slow? is there anything that can be done to give it a nudge? see progress?

  10. Hello,

Long story short, Sparkpost stopped working for a few days (CC was hacked and got blocked)... in the meantimes, almost every email address of my members were flagged as "disabled"

    Could contain: Chart, Pie Chart

    and users see this:

Could contain: Page, Text, Computer Hardware, Electronics, Hardware

My sparkpost account is now re-established, but users still get this message and I see now way in the AdminCP to mass correct this??!?

What could I do to fix this? (I'm on a cloud subscription).

    Thanks,

Mail Bouncer is a third party application which you're using. You will want to contact the author for assistance.

I'm sorry I forgot it was a 3rd party, thought it was the integrated mail bouncer feature.

Which begs the question, if its integrated in the cloud offering, why pay for a 3rd party!?

If you're not worried about the above and do not worry about a branding email domain, I would just use our Cloud solution to send emails. It will be the easier to SendGrid with a comparable delivery rate, best part though is your completely hands off.

Will it mange bounces? so I can keep a clean member list with their emails?

    Thanks 🙂

We wouldnt really do a pros/con against every mail service on the internet. What you really need to do is ask yourself what you want to achieve. If the answer to that question is that you simply want it to successfully send out mail, then just use the internal one. If you want something such as your own domain and to do other things with your mail service (whatever those 'things' may be) then look for a service which suits what you need.

There is often an emphasis on seeing what one service offers that another service doesn't, rather than asking the correct question of "What do I actually need?"

I don't really use any of the metrics that spark post tracks for me, and I don't really care honestly. All I want is reliable email sent to my folks and track bounces so the members updates their email accordingly.

So if I understand correctly, is it worth 20$ having the email coming from mysite.com instead of invisioninc.com ?

I assume managing bounce is also done by the internal email server?

    Thanks,

  16. It would be great if we could give the permission to the moderator group... that would alleviate some of the work for me the sole admin.

My forum is now 16 years old, and there's plenty of archived threads, even tho members are asking to post updates in them.

  17. I have disabled archiving 2 days ago, but threads are still archived... how long should I expect to wait for them to be unarchived.

Also, I have looked in the permissions of the Moderators group, and there's nothing about archiving/unarchiving permissions anywhere... what am I missing? Thanks.
