I appreciate it! www.cascadeclimbers.com and @Adriano Faria built a custom form that allows people to post a "Trip Report" and there is a "Team" form in that. I thought it might just be opacity, which explains why there isn't a color I can switch it to. Wish I could have it switch to another color on selection, rather than just change opacity, but I guess that would be custom code. @Adriano Faria since this is sort of beyond the scope of what you charged me initially, let me know if you think that would be possible for a reasonable cost...otherwise I'll try to train my users to live with it as is.. Again, thanks again @Nathan Explosion , that was really the type of guidance I was hoping for over "NOT SUPPORTED". 😀

To be clear I don't want it to "function" differently. I want to appear differently. Maybe the answer is the same, but I'm not looking for a change in function, just the appearance which is clearly set somewhere in the code. Thank you and thanks @Adriano Faria for chiming in!

I think its more of what would be called "Mention" but the setting in the theme setting for "Mention" doesn't seem to alter it, but I'm looking to change this setting. I had a guy here do a mod for me and he did it and it works great but I want to change this, which I think is a function of the board that I should be able to change? In the first box that indicates the user is "found"...so it pretty much just like a mention. Then to actually select this user I click on the Member ID in the top photo and it is indicated as select in the lower image by changing to a very slightly lighter shade of blue (there are two images show above, the same form, but the second one is after I click "olyclimber"...then the surrounding blue color goes to a lighter shade). What I want to do is make that surrounding color much different...maybe even red so its very obvious that the user was selected. Is this something I can do in the theme setting or is there another way to modify it? I'm trying to explain this, but realizing that it may not be all together clear...so let me know if you don't understand what I'm asking! Thank you.

I just wanted to thank all that helped me in this thread. I was able to upgrade our Forums, and we are now on the latest version on on PHP 8.x.

I randomly discovered after upgrading that one of my forums (only one of all of them!) had some statistics enabled when in Topic view (not visible otherwise). How do I turn this on for other topics by default for other forums? See attached screenshot.

Hi Mark! Yep, I did that, all was green. I think I figured it out though...for some reason some files didn't copy over with Filezilla.

just copied the files up to do the upgrade and when I got to the /admin/upgrade/ I'm getting this error message? Any idea of how to resolve, or should I roll back to a backup and start over? I disabled all apps/plugins before doing the upgrade.

I think you are right about that. It must have replaced, though for some reason it didn't replace the last month. But it has to be that...it overwrote the folders, wiping anything that was unique to my board there. this is the part I was following: I have to do a manual install because of where my board is at, so those are the instructions. I'm going to use Filezilla to do it instead of what I used last time (Nova). I'm pretty sure that is it.

I just upgraded my forums to 4.7 (was on 4.2.9). Things are looking good for the most part, but I'm seeing images that are not displaying. See this post (Trip Report) for example: What I found is that the images found in /forms/uploads/monthy_YEAR_MONTH where Year= for ex 2007 and MONTH = 12. So ALL the images that were uploaded to IPB since we originally installed it were missing. That is a big part of our bread and butter for our site. Did I mess up? I copied the files and directories as the instructions indicate. Somehow all those went missing. Or are they moved by this version? If they are moved, where and why and is there a config I change to adapt? I restored from a back up and and now am back on 4.2.9. It was good exercise regardless. Can one explain to me what went wrong? If I were to guess I did something wrong, but maybe something else is up. Thank you for any assistance.

Thank you @Jim M ! Database is just set to localhost in the config, so I shouldn't need to change that I believe. Is there a way to update the license key manually, or only via the web UI?

Do you guys see any problems with me doing the following: 1. Making a clone of of my prod server. 2. I'll change the line in conf_global.php file to be the IP of the clone rather than the prod DNS name. 3. Doing all my test upgrade stuff there before running them on the prod server. I guess the question is, will the server with the existing license? Looks like in the docs you're supposed to append "-TESTINSTALL". Can I do that manually?

Really my only two key apps are the Tagging and a custom app that has already been updated for 4.7 and is ready to be installed in the same manner. Thanks Nathan...I'm clear on all but the final step. What do you mean by "migrate to this resource". I have a lot of info set up using "Advance Tags" that I don't want to lose...a lot of work when into tagging info our site (forums that have been around since 2001 or so) and I don't want to lose that if possible. Can you do an upgrade to an app that is not functioning/disabled?

Totally was planning to. But if there is no timely support for this app then I'm not sure it makes sense to pay for it. At the same time I'm not sure if I have any choice if I want this functionality on my website, short of rolling my own solution.

Anyone around for supporting this app? I'm a little concerned since I posted this with no response...also DM the listed person for the app and no response there either.
