You've repeated the same thing now like 6 times. If the guy wants to disable it, then go for it. It seems like a great idea for politics which can get out of hand quickly. Its personally not my 2 cents to do, but you don't have to continue to bash the guy. Also, to correct your laws a bit. Most of the laws only come in place where your server is PHYSICALLY located. In order words my offshore server in Finland can do things that my server in America can not.

Thats not entirely true, back on phpBB3 a guy took my 110k user forum down using the 3.0.2 exploit. He stole all the passwords, decrypted them and mass spammed the emails, and still to this day posts the old mySQL dB on the internet. I filled out a FBI IC Form, and never heard back. Talk to my host to take legal action, never happened.

If you can get America to fight with you on any online issue, thats a miracle.

Currently in 3.0.0 and 2.3.6 you can set a user group to "Can bypass badword filters?"

So that allows you to type whatever you want. However then other users can see your language. I've had a word pack of backwards uploaded since the beginning and its just now bothering me, as I sometimes cannot express myself within the language. I can post it, and everyone sees it which doesn't look good at times as an admin.

Would a setting of "Can see/post badwords" be better?

So those usergroups can post it and see it, but the usergroups that aren't selected don't. So basically that group still gets the basic "******" in place for words posted by themselves, and other words posted by those usergroups that have permission to post badwords. This would allow the little guys on my forum to stay away from our occasional language, but not interrupt anything for us.

I don't know anything about it on the coding side, I just wanted some opinions on this idea.

    Hello everyone

I have a small suggestion to make
The reason why a member is banned is not shown to the banned member when he logs in after being banned.
This feature is there in vBulletin
Would like to see it in IPB also

    Do you agree with me???

Um... maybe cause people don't mysteriously gain knowledge of newer upgrades to languages. php5, and the updated javascript and CSS libraries are new. I don't expect any staff to know the language by heart unless they just learned it. For example I know Visual Basic a TON back in the day, now I open up VB.NET Express 2008 and hell control arrays are gone. Things change, people learn them. That summer that no release came is because they were working on IP. Dynamic, IP. Nexus and some other thing I imagine.

I pay my 6 month bill not only for updates, but for support and there such great guys :) I pay them to keep them in business. Due to the sucky economy everyone is facing I would encourage everyone to renew their license since they probably need some cash.
