As I'm still learning about IP.B, why have a log-in name and a username? Why not make it one-in-the-same?
That is an option if you prefer to have your community that way :) -
If you created your account for the client area, then logged in to the forums, it's likely that your login name is the same as your EMail address.

It is possible to do, as the developers of WHMCS has added the feature, and called it Multiple Currency. I ain't sure how this would be done, but I'm sure IPS has the skills to look into this.
Either they actually charge you in the relevant currency or they base it off current exchange rates. If it's the latter, I'd imagine it would work most of the time, but could potentially be a couple of pennies out. -

Even on dedicated servers... it would be too resource intensive to be practical.

I am interested in IP.Chat for the community hosted on my own server. Is this solution only for hosted Communities? Can you tell, what is the timeline for the first release?
IP.Chat will be available for all customers, in fact, active current license holders will receive a free chat room. Even though it's hosted on our servers, it's not limited to those hosted with us - much like the spam monitoring service.
As for availability, it's difficult to say. We've been using this beta to gauge some of the technical things on our end (how many servers we'll need at launch and so on) which should give you an idea of where we are in the development cycle.
An announcement will be posted once we have a decided release date :) -
[*]This might be quite hard to do, but I'd like to see the possibility to make it run off an existing IRC channel in place of...whatever it's running off now. The IRC option might have to bypass some things (eg, no bbcode), but overall I think it would be quite useful, especially for sites run on restrictive shared hosting. Since, after all, anyone can make their own channel on a network like, say, Rizon.
It runs off our servers so that won't be an issue :) There's no way anyone could run this on a shared server :P -
What happened to it? What are the downsides on IPS' side?
What are the upsides?
If people want to buy a license or hosting, they can buy it from us... why introduce a middleman?
I don't really see how having reseller accounts would benefit us or our customers - just seems messy. -
They're in the "Tools" directory of the converters ;)
-
Bare in mind what you're looking at is beta of a 1.0 version of a product ;)
Most of your suggestions have been discussed and are definitely on the table - but of course we need to make sure the basic functionality works before we go loading it will tons of goodies :) -
That would be terrific, Charles. I'm fairly convinced to move over.
What about the upgrade process? About the same as the other guy? Upload files, hit a specific URL, walks through it?
Yeah. Or submit a ticket and we'll do it for you - whatever works best for you ;) -
Yes, I can handle that :)

But.... illegal where ???? because things that are illegal in the USA and European Union are legal in other countries... and illegal for the country of the owner or illegal for the country of the hosting ???
I'm concerned as to what exactly you might be referring to
If you're doing something illegal, I would think us telling you that breaks the terms of your license would be the least of your concerns. -
We did launch a sale - information is here:

When you say active license holder, do you mean active license holder with service enhancement package?
The details haven't been finalised yet, so let's not get too hung up over pricing and technicalities. Right now we want to make sure that the system will work under heavy load, and see how many users a single server can take, etc. before we can give specifics on pricing.
:) -
It's because WBB associates polls with posts (you could for example, have multiple polls within a single topic) whereas IPB only allows one poll per topic, and it is associated with the topic.
It's a feature IPB doesn't have, so we can't reliably convert it. -
You have to wait till its approved(Which can take up to 48 hours but is usually much faster)
I don't think an order has ever had to wait that long ;)
The billing/accounts team start in in about an hour, and approving orders is usually the first thing done :) -

How long it takes to download or activate this script? I would convert my forum this night and maybe its better to redirect the urls as fast as it can be.
It's included in the converter script under the "Tools" directory. Simply open the config.php file, edit the variables - and then upload all of the files to wherever your vBulletin source files were. -
Just to clarify, the script will also work for Google and other search engines - When they next re-index your site they'll update to the new links, so you won't lose search engine ranking.
Yeah, it puts up a 301 redirect messageAnd I'd love to see the feedback from the community. So it'd be great if this were moved to the feedback forum
No problem - moved :) -
Now i am using vb and want to change to Ipb. The biggest problem in my eyes is the URL Problem. In my vb forum i
