Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted November 4, 20231 yr I have a document download section. People upload procedures and other forms. There is an image that's associated with each, but it's always blank. How do I get it to show the file type of each document? Let's say a Word, or Excel image or ma maybe a pdf logo.
November 4, 20231 yr Community Expert Let's say a Word, or Excel image or ma maybe a pdf logo. That's not a feature in Downloads. It will show this "blank" screenshot if the user didn't upload one.

November 4, 20231 yr Community Expert but I don't see how. The only way is to UPLOAD A NEW VERSION: You don't need to provide a new .doc or .xls, etc. Just upload the screenshot and save it. Note: this is an old request, by the way.
November 4, 20231 yr Author Thanks both. I tried, but I don't see a screenshot option. Edited November 4, 20231 yr by Square Wheels
November 4, 20231 yr Community Expert Thanks both. I tried, but I don't see a screenshot option. That's probably why people didn't upload a screenshot. 🙂
November 4, 20231 yr Author OK, so I added my first screenshot, a simple pdf png. It seems the screenshot needs to be sized first. Any idea, aside from trial and error, what size it needs to be? The image is cropped. Edited November 4, 20231 yr by Square Wheels
November 4, 20231 yr Community Expert The space is a square. Your image should be also I believe. It looks like that image is a tall rectangle which does not fit within the dimensions of a square. Edited November 4, 20231 yr by Randy Calvert

"Thats a handy little tool" Hi @Square Wheels My community uploads hundreds of PDF resources and files too. If users are uploading PDFs, one of my personal favorites for third-party tools is Boxoft PDF to JPG Converter. It's a free Windows program to batch convert PDF files into JPG, which you can use as screenshots for Downloads. I find this to be more useful than a generic PDF icon, since you can upload the first X pages of the resource. There are some very, easy settings http://www.boxoft.com/pdf-to-jpg/ Edited November 5, 20231 yr by Joel R
