Getting this error any thoughts on solutions?

That is a general error and it doesn't tell us much as to what is causing it. Can you access your admin panel? If you can, have a look at the System Logs and post here the most recent error messages logged in there.

Another thing, what was the latest change/modification done to the forum prior to this happening?

Driver error is something from a very old unsupported release. You can check within cache/sql if I remember correct, which should show the exact error there.
