Basically this would mean that when creating a blog post you would be able to choose a post format that would then show that format on the blog listing with a icon over the thumbnail. This would make it easy for readers to know what kind of post it is before going into the post. For example. When creating a blog post I could choose a 'video' post format that would then put a video icon on top of the thumbnail on blog listing. Reader would then know that the post contains a video. Same could be used for gallery, audio etc. It's a great way to engage users and readers, knowing what kind of post they are about to read can boost engagement.
