Tommaso Esposito Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Hello, I have a self hosted forum and I am just wondering if allowing members to post video and image attachments could possibly slow down the site? Thank you
Tommaso Esposito Posted April 13, 2022 Author Posted April 13, 2022 Another question about this, would having someone copy an image from google instead of uploading directly affect slowness in any way?

Thank you In a MAJORITY of cases it won’t. You would be more limited by CPU and memory than bandwidth. Videos and images consume more bandwidth than server resources. If you use a CDN like Cloudflare, you won’t even have much server usage. 2 hours ago, Tommaso Esposito said: Another question about this, would having someone copy an image from google instead of uploading directly affect slowness in any way? Not at all.
Marc Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 There isnt much I can really add to what has been said by Randy there, other than to say when loading a page, if there is more media, it will take longer to load that page with that media on it. In most cases, on a decent set up, that would not be an unusual amount. If you are asking these kinds of questions, are you sure you want to host yourself? Have you considered our cloud offering?
