Reply to PMs when users have left the conversation

I believe at this moment, if there are two people in a conversation and one of the leaves or deletes the conversation, the other person can still reply in a conversation without the indication that the other user will not see the messages.  Is it possible to prevent those replies or bring the other user back into the conversation?
