Hello,

I'm hoping someone could give me some guidance or advice please.

I'm wanting to add some menu items here - which redirect to the odd forum.

The issue I'm having is once setup on the nav bar I don't want members to see the forums where forums are usually placed when created.  I've tried messing with forum and category permissions but had no luck.. like I tried making it so the forum couldn't directly be seen on the site but if you clicked the link on the nav bar it would take you inside the invisible forum.

Is there away around this?

Hi. I think that you can do that with the Menu Manager inside your Admin Panel. You can enter the url to your forum when adding an item there and set the permissions as which group can see it. Hope it helps.

You can make a custom menu link and only select the user groups you want, obviously this has to much up with the forum permissions that you’ve set.

Thank you for the responses if I do the above though the forums will still be seen on the home page also ideally if I can I only want certain forums accessible through the nav bar but permission issues are preventing me from making this work as if I set it so no one can see the forum but yet they click the nav link at the top it will give a permission error.

The way I see it is that you give permissions to view the navbar link only to the groups that are allowed to view the forum.

As above, but you can’t hide forums and then have a link in the menu to access that forum.

Users won’t see the forum unless they have permission to do so, you don’t need to worry about hiding the forum.
