Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Black Tiger Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Hello. I've seen if I create a new database for a new Invision installation, it will be in the utf8mb4_unicode_ci characterset. However when looking in phpmyadmin the database default characterset at the bottom is still at latin1_swedish_ci and I don't know if that is a good thing, I don't want to get a mixed up database later on. This is an example: Do I need to change this latin1 to utf8mb4 and if yes, how can I do this?
bfarber Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 You can change the default MySQL character sets in the my.cnf MySQL configuration file. While it's good practice to change the default, it shouldn't matter in reality when it comes to our software (we specify the character sets to use manually already).
