hpcrazy Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Hi everybody, I want to make only selected member groups able to download the attachments in forums and clubs. Attachments are .mp3, .pdf, .mp4 and .jpg files. But as when I add a .mp3 file or a .jpg file any membergroup can download it even the permissions are set correctly in the admin panel. As an example for .mp3 files a link is generated which anybody has access to who can read the topic. My goal is that all membergroups can read a topic in the forum or the clubs but only one member group can download the attachment. I have made the proper settings in the permission but somehow it does not work - so how do I do that ? Thanks for your help in forward.

It would help if you could show what it is that you think is the proper setting for controlling the download of attachments. But the permission that is relevant is set at the forum level, and is called 'Download attachments' If you have that set correctly, and group members are still able to download attachments then do the group members have a secondary group added? If yes, check that groups permissions too. If no, then I'd advise you to contact IPS support if the permissions aren't working correctly.
hpcrazy Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 Hey Nathan, thanks for your swift reply. I had the proper settings as you displayed them and it looks like in the testing phase the file still was in the cache of the browser and when I logged out I still was able to download it - even I did not have permission. A bit strange - but thats the only explaination I have for that. :-D
