Database Connection Edits - Live Environment

Hi,

I need to change the db user details (sql_user, sql_pass) within conf_global.php.

Testing within a staging environment isn't possible.

Have you done this before and what advice would you give?

Download the file locally via FTP, make a copy (backup)

Make the required changes locally, make sure you have the correct details entered.

Upload the file and test it.

Works - job done, no need to think it's anything other than the above.

Doesn't work - figure out why.

It's not rocket science at all.

However, when I changed the database user details I received the following HTTP 500 error:

Is there a caching issue I need to resolve?

It's resolved. 

My username contained too many characters. This was shorted by Cpanel and I hadn't spotted it.
