Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Disruption Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Hello I received errors on my update due to my files not being updated apparently on my side. Can someone who is self hosted explain the process of updating IPB? I am new to this and want to make sure I do it correctly and avoid data loss. Thank you!
Joel R Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 What version are you on right now? Manual approach: 1. Take a database backup 2. Download the complete package from the Client Area 3. Upload the complete package via FTP Magic approach: Run the support tool Panic approach: Send in a support ticket

Since I installed my community manually, am I able to use the support tool to upgrade?
Joel R Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Yes, you're always able to use the support tool to upgrade / get new patches. It's the recommended approach.
Disruption Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 Joel, Please see attached error I am receiving.
Joel R Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I couldn't find the proper CHMOD permissions in the IPS Help Guides. Send in a ticket.
