Clubs and limited page options

Does anyone have ideas on how to be able to use more of the club interior space - where the topics are listed?  Is there a hack or anything that allows me to do some of the things that I can do with a regular page or like with using @opentype's page templates?

I like the idea of the club, but the layout is mostly inflexible AND whatever I put in the sidebar from one club is int he sidebar for all clubs.  How can I get more flexibility to really focus in on the club topic by adding multiple blocks?  Need more opportunity to personalize the club.

This plugin you can restrict topics to show, only from the same forum and accepts clubs "legacy" forum. I use it in one of my websites and filters the data just like I want it. So the widget only shows the topics from the same club tab.
