Is anyone familiar with the database entry: members_day_posts?

When does the value update and how regularly? I have been querying it lately and noticed that not only does it not really update regularly, it also seems to be empty for a lot of users at time, despite actively posting.

This value is updated each time when a member posts something, but keep in mind that it's happening only for members of a a group which is using the "Posting Limits" setting.
