Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
BostonBob Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Hello, Can someone please make a BAD BOT plugin to stop spam / bad bots from slowing down sites? I have like 200 blocked -- but I'm tired of keeping going through my logs to find more bots. Can someone just create one that automatically updates its bot lists for everyone? Wordpress has such a nice little bad bot plugin -- stops like 2500 bots. https://wordpress.org/plugins/stopbadbots/ Can someone please do this? Literally, bots can create such havoc on server resources! Thanks, BB
DSystem Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 You can also use CSF Firewall on your server to resolve this issue. https://configserver.com/
Steph40 Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 @BostonBob Do you have full server access, if you do look at these, I use them: Apache: https://github.com/mitchellkrogza/apache-ultimate-bad-bot-blocker Nginx: https://github.com/mitchellkrogza/nginx-ultimate-bad-bot-blocker If not these plugin might help: Good luck.
BostonBob Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 I'd rather someone build a plugin that I can be sure it will maintain itself by the community. Those other solutions are good -- but it's just another issue to deal with -- to be sure it's up to date etc. Someone can obviously see how valuable this would be to the community! It sounds like a money maker for sure!
BostonBob Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 So we don't have any interest from a developer to create such a plugin?
