Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Mark Clifford Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Hello, I've just completed the SEO Friendly part of editing the forum URL, as described here: http://bit.ly/2voR4f7 but I want to go one step further and remove or replace "forum" from my address. My URL is currently forum.metcast.co.uk which is what I want but the part I want to remove is in bold here: http://forum.metcast.co.uk/forum/10-summer-and-general-discussion/ Is there anyway I can do this without messing everything up?
opentype Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 It’s in the Advanced Configuration settings in the ACP. You can change it easily, yes. Can you mess things up? Well, yes as well. Having an app URL slug is the safest thing to do to avoid any conflicts with other apps of the suite you may have now or in the future. Also, all your forum URLs change and you need to make sure you always maintain that change in the future.
sweethoney Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 not really i have tested many times and i had so many issues with the url and plugins but you can do this with in the Advanced Configuration what you want to do is forums/forum/{#id}-{?} you want to remove {#id} witch would be come forum/forum/-announcements/?id2 the other way would be just remove {#id}- and than it would be come forums/forum/announcements/?id=2 and than if you where to put it like this forums/forum/{?}-{#id} it would become like this forums/forum/announcements-2/ and that just make a lot of issues but if you can get it to work let me know
