Forcing members to update their profile in v4.1?

I'm looking for some way to force new members to update their profiles -- search found old discussions about v3x.  I think I saw something in the Marketplace that popped up a message for the member, but I can't find it now either.

My site requires users to complete additional custom fields when they sign up, but that information is not coming in with those who join via Facebook.  I would like to require them to add that required info somewhow...
