Leaderboard Winner - To Show On Authorpane in topics

I'm liking the idea of the Leaderboard but I don't think this has been incorporated into the software well at all.

Idea's:
1) Add it as a block and show it off around the site? Most won't even click on leaderboard link. (This way we can show on the main forum too on who is the winner).
2) Add to topic author to show next to topics (next to name or a badge underneath, with link back).

I think the leaderboard should also separate staff from members - having two running for those purposes.
