What folders can I delete after upgrade from 3.4?

For instance I'm looking in admin folder and it's all the stuff from 3.4, but in my admin folder in the 4.1 install, there are only 3 folders. Will I be safe to just follow whats in the 4.1 installation folder?

I've also got 1,500 images in uploads directory call av-####.jpg, are these still used?
