Large/Medium/Small Toolbar Locations

Where are all these used? Just so I have an idea if the icons are necessary or not.

For example the Status box is a bit crowded so I want to remove some buttons from the Small toolbar but this might effect another screen they are useful in.

Instead of just looking at the large/medium/small as a solution to that, double click the actual icons and choose where you want them to be displayed too.
