Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Morpheo Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Usually upgrades are down seamlessly through the AdminCP but this time I was told that I need to manually download and upload a zip file to my server. But no specific instructions were given. My question is, where do I upload this zip file? Do I just over-ride the entire contents of my /forum/ main directory?
Mark H Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Download the software, extract the ZIP file to your computer, and it should create a directory named "ips_xxxxx" (where xxxxx is a random string.) You would upload the contents of that folder to your site, overwriting when prompted, then visit the upgrade link.
Morpheo Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 How can I do that in cPanel's ftp manager? It does not have an overwrite function. Uploading individual files would take hours.
Mark H Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If you have a cPanel account, you can upload the ZIP file to your server. Assuming your server has the capability to decompress ZIP files (not all do), just decompress it once you've uploaded it. That will create the folder mentioned previously. Open that folder with File Manager, highlight all items in it ("Select All") then drag and drop all of them to your forum directory.
Mark H Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 You're welcome. Glad to hear you got that sorted.
