Can I change the "Home/Site" page link in the top bar to the home page rather than forum?

ie. http://domainname rather than http://domainname/ipp

You can change everything at applications (change default) & menu manager in acp

Unfortunately, I have tried the menu manager in the ACP. No joy.

Is “/ipp” a folder on your server or not? What IPS apps do you have installed? Which is set as default app?
You say you tried the menu manager – what have you tried? What was the result?
