snugRugBug Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Hey peepsI just need bounce this idea off the forum, just in case someone has tried it before:If I made a backup of all the IPB files on the server, and made a complete database backup, could I restore these to get the fully functional site back? I'm thinking of implementing this so that I can easily revert between different snapshots of IPB.Thanks

I still do it before installing a new RC on every Installation (If you are using a controlpanel like Plesk (im pretty sure, you can do this in cPanel, too), you are able to create a domainbackup, so you just have to restore your backup and don't have to handle files and databases seperately.
Misi Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 and made a complete database backup,Just do not do it with phpmyadmin. You might think that you have a backup but in reality you have only a part of your database.
TheSonic Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 If you have Shell-acess and don't you use a complete backupsolution, i would use mysqldump:http://webcheatsheet.com/sql/mysql_backup_restore.php
