NotTheUsernameThatIWant
why commercial and top-quality forum engine disallows an "|" character in login names and username ? Other free forum engines such as phpBB3 and vBuletin have no problems with this characters. Many people want to use "|" character as clan tags separation: "cTF|Someone" and this fact alone makes that i cannot use IPB forum engine and many communities where are clans also can't.According to ASCII Codes:Char Dec Oct Hex| 124 0174 0x7cWhy it isn't supported ? Can you please change this ?
Hexsplosions
I've run a clan without this character being available. Why not just add a custom profile field for the clan tag so affiliated clans can register and still have their "identity" visible?

Mat Barrie
or edit Characters allowed in usernames and add that. like a-z A-Z 0-9 . | You can't. It's one of roughly 20 characters that IP.Board is hard-coded to reject for some reason.

Mat Barrie
It's not mentioned anywhere so it's not surprising you didn't know that. Have a look at /admin/sources/classes/member/memberFunctions.php around line 653 - there's a quite large array in the username clean function which causes an error during registration.
