Speed and Cleanup

Hello.

All of this has been asked a million times, and I have gone through and read a great deal on all of it. But most of the questions about cleaning up your server and making it run faster or very advanced. These seem to be brought about by problems people have.

I really don't have any problems and am just looking for a few tips to clean my server up (to maximize space) and to maybe speed it up if possible. Nothing at all fancy, just some little tricks that many people might overlook.

If you have any, I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Thanks guys.

I've setup some crons and it looks pretty good. I also realized that I had some crons set that served absolutely no purpose. Is it ok to disable those?

had heard that mention before but don't know procedures or benefits, can you expand?

Basically, memory engine is the fastest thing there is. But very volatile since a reboot/power out/etc will cause a wipe of data. But lost sessions aren't a big deal. Users are just logged out. So, you can afford to put it in the fastest medium.

I'll be damned..looks easy enough a caveman (me) could do it.
will try that.
does this affect topic read/unread status at all?
I suspect NOT as thats (if selected) using different table in DB.
