connorhawke Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Just a few days ago a user called hentaiporn (probably a spambot) posted about 23 status updates linking to porn sites, including many duplicate links. I deleted them just a few minutes ago after only just seeing them in the well-hidden 'Status Updates' area. I would prefer not to have my site get detected by search engines as something to potentially blacklist or at least to exclude from normal searches, so it would be great if there was an option to Follow all Status Updates posted by all members like there is the option to Follow all new threads posted in a Forum, etc.

Have you considered simply disabling the status update functionality for new members?

If a separate email account is used for those kinds of things, then there should be less concern about receiving a bunch of notification emails at the primary email account(s). Have you considered simply disabling the status update functionality for new members? The status update functionality is currently disabled for members with fewer than a certain number of posts, but those spambots can rack up posts quickly and undetected (for various reasons we don't currently use post moderation for new members).
