With regards to my earlier post: Nothing wrong with the app just my lack of skills. Thanks to Robert who was more than willing to help but the error was entirely my fault.

great .. glad too hear it .. you jumped on board just in time ... as the next version will be released by next weekend at the latest (barring any unforeseen issues) .. and the price will be going up to $25 most likely at that point (with the adding of the $10 a year renewal) so you'll grandfather in (all clients at the time of release will be upgraded to the new release) ... and if you like the current version .. you'll LOVE the next one .. you can see samples of it in my signature link ...

I haven't made any decisions yet on encoding any files .. so as it stands now it will not be .. but may I ask why..as almost every server these days has ioncube capabilities

here is something not previously mentioned .. you can use regular menus .. or mega menus per group area with this next release..
also .. thinking of calling this next version ProMenu+ ... any thoughts?

Tried finding the answer to this within the topic but didn't see it.

Just getting started with this app. It automatically puts my custom menu to the elft of my IPS apps in the primary nav bar. For Instance, from left to right:

I want it to be Forums - Members - Blogs - Chat - More

Rather do this without disbling the defalut nav menu and creating tabs for the apps within the menu software. I can get my custom menu to appear to immediate left of view new content by changing a setting in css from float left to float right, but I really want it to the immediate right of the main IPS app tabs in nav bar.

Any suggestions?

I know what your asking..and there is real no solid way to achieve this w/o re-writing the hook..the hook point is set too display before the existing menus if not removed and would have to be changed to read afterwards .. I can play with the hook abit and see what I can whip up .. but to be honest..your better off just removing them all and working them all within promenu..especially with the new release I have coming out .. has multiple menu areas by default..flexibility to build your own areas .. preview section for each group ... mega menu options now ... ton of new bells and whistles...

so if you wish me to peruse looking into changing the hook .. I will .. just let me know

issue resolved .. Content users .. make sure you DO NOT disable the IP.Content Bar .. this hook being disabled does seem to effect the ProMenu output..though not sure as to WHY this would happen

This is enabled and it still doesn't show the menu. Any ideas?

Can you tell me where this setting is as updated to latest version of your product on default skin and menu has vanished.

sounds like the default skin might have been modified at some point...make sure the global hasn't been modified...I have seen this before and its definitely skin related ... check to make sure your running 1.1.5 hooks with 1.1.5 application .. and I assume your on 3.3.x .. if all these hold true and your still having issue .. build a new default theme in the acp .. and see if your menus show on that theme (I'm betting it will as this was my solution in the cases I have come across) .. if it doesn't let me know..I'll toss you a link and we'll have a look at it thru a remote session

Thanks, noted. I am running 3.3 and I see an issue.

In order to create my menus, I am assigning only administrators w/display permission to each menu. I then go bakc to a menu and add permissions to display to guests. Viewing the site as a guest, then menu doesn't show up.

If I delete the menu, then recreate it allowing admins and guests to see, then I can see the menus while logged in with my admin acct or while logged off.

Seems permission changes do not take affect. The menu stays with whatever permissions are initially assigned upon creation.

sounds more like cache issue on your end, I cannot duplictae.
a hard refresh makes them show on my end when testing.

I am using Firefox to administer my site. I am using Chrome to view it as a guest. I have cleared all browswing history and cookies in Chrome, exited browser, opened Chrome again, and the menu still does not show to any additional groups I have assigned Display permision to for a specific menu(s).

Se lets take this step by step. I am creating a new menu named "Test" and leaving permissions tab with default settings, giving everyone access. In Chrome, I can see the test tab. I then go to the test menu and set it to only display for administrators on the permissions tab. I go back to Chrome and F5. Test menu is still there. I clear browsing history. Exit Chrome. Open Chrome again and go back to site. Test tab still there. Not good, permission changes not being recognized. So I delete the Test tab and then refresh in Chrome. Tab is now gone.

FWIW I have tried Chrome, Opera, Firefox, & IE during the testing of this.

What I would like to do is develop these menus where only admin can see. Then once done I want to make them available to specific user groups. But I cannot do this as it sticks with only the initial permissions assigned.


EDIT: If not obvious, I am not logged into site with Chrome in testing, just viewing site as a guest.

f5 or control-f5?
I just tried that (browsers same too) and cannot duplicate still but I do control-f5. I dunno, out of ideas on my end. with that being said I have had issues with chrome and cookies before causing similar issues.
you build them same way I do, admin only at first to test then permission for everyone.

Same with ctrl-F5. This issue is not specific to one browser though. I am able to duplicate it in every browser I have installed. In the above example, I loaded IE and Opera after deleting the test tab. Guess what, the test tab showed up in both of those browsers and I hadn't evver loaded the site in those browsers when it had a test tab. Since it had only had a test tab for a couple of minutes and was then deleted.

Permission changes are simply not working. There must be some setting that I am missing here.

are you using cdn or anything?
I am not (presently while making changes) but that may it?

whooo hooo :) great news thank you :) yea i don't have ironcube installed on my server, last time i tried installing it it broke my blog, so um yea lol :D but if i have to i will do it... but only if i have to... meanwhile... yay thanks for the hard work :) looked at ya test site, great stuffs there! :)

maybe doing skin recache and recache all in tools-settings all I can think of.
I will try some more stuff in a bit but I just can't make it do this.

I cannot reproduce this..so we should do a remote session so I can see this issue first hand..but it seems local to your build .. if it wasn't..more ppl would be having issues

Hi Robert,

Test site looks really great! However...

I had a go with the mega-menus using my iPad and I don't seem to be able to close a menu without selecting one of the links within it. Clicking off a menu works fine on my ordinary Mac, but once you have opened a menu on iPad you can only either select another menu item or an time within the current menu.

... I have just noticed that this is also the case with the current version, but maybe it is less of an issue with ordinary sized menus? I certainly think that being able to close all mega-menus would be helpful.
