Problem with load

Hi, I have a small problem with my forum. I have VPS with parameters: 3GHz and 2GB RAM. Forum generates a big load with a small number of members, yesterday was they around 100, today is it 20 and my VPS don't knead. On VPS works a nginx as a proxy to apache2.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, after convert to IPB, a lot off member (~ 7k) not have a good birthday date. The system can not cope with the processing of, off hook and the forum works.

How did you resolve this? Did you just delete the birthdays from the database?

Well, I turn off the hook - it not the best way, but works:)

Now, I again have a problem with big load, lighttpd / nginx / apache2 - all of them have a problem with loading the home page, all works good yesterday, today I have a big problem.
