Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
kenshinjeff Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Hi, My load has recently increased to about 150 concurrent users, and performance is very sluggish. I installed unreal portal, shoutbox, and I'm using the stock skin. Before the increase in the number of users there were no issues, now the cpu can spike up to 20-30% at times, the shoutbox sometimes does double posts, and everyone is complaining it's slow. I'm thinking that maybe there is something I could do to optimise the board, and the VPS I'm currently using. I'm having an Essential VPS with servint, that's about 768ram available. Sorry I forgot to mention that nowadays I'm seeing httpd <defunct> in top.
AndyF Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Welcome :) I'll move your topic to a more suitable forum for your enquiries.
Gary. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Sorry I forgot to mention that nowadays I'm seeing httpd <defunct> in top. <defunct>, That is most likely zombie children processes of a parent process that has been terminated / exited yet the parent process has yet to see the termination of its child. They will go away on there own when a new httpd process is spawning.
