Posted August 17, 201014 yr is to hide the license key area of administration? so other administrators do not have access.
August 17, 201014 yr I don't see why they didn't do this in the first place... it's a license key. Only the main admin/owner should be able to see the license key. +1
August 17, 201014 yr It's not a feature and because its part of Tools and Settings - you can't restrict it easily either. I'll move your post to the feedback forum where it may get more attention :)
August 17, 201014 yr The license key will be of no use to anyone if it is already activated :)All it essentially is is a common identifier to our hosted services like the spam monitoring service and IP.Chat. Unless accessed from the licensed URL it can't do anything, and if you try to use a license key that is already active, it'll just say "That key has already been activated".
August 17, 201014 yr But technically couldn't another Admin delete the key from the ACP, then take it to their forums or whatever?
August 18, 201014 yr But technically couldn't another Admin delete the key from the ACP, then take it to their forums or whatever? I agree...
August 18, 201014 yr I doubt it will happen again but I did give a person once a huge amount of access. They actually moved my forum to another server and took the domain name. I got everything back but it was difficult. I think on something like this you can't be too careful.
August 18, 201014 yr But technically couldn't another Admin delete the key from the ACP, then take it to their forums or whatever? In theory, no. The "administrator" would have to have the same URL in the IPS Client Area WITH an IP.Board license to associate with. It's useless to anyone else but yourself.

August 18, 201014 yr Even making an alternate contact, they would not have access to the packaging unless you set that permission for access. Although I doubt he gave any alternate contact for his IPS Client Area. I know I wouldn't...
August 18, 201014 yr Yeah I don't have any alternate contacts. I wouldn't trust anyone unless I knew them in real life.
August 18, 201014 yr Author The only solution is to restrict access to some administrators by clicking on the tab - members - Manage ACP Restrictions
August 18, 201014 yr In theory, no. The "administrator" would have to have the same URL in the IPS Client Area WITH an IP.Board license to associate with. It's useless to anyone else but yourself. Actually, your URL is set from IP.Board only now. Basically when you enter your License Key in your ACP, it reports back to IPS what your Board URL is and it shows in your Client Area. In all honesty, that is the dumbest idea IPS has ever come up with. I would much rather like to set the URL MySelf!!! Like it was before they changed all this crap to "Automatic". It's retarded to be honest... The only solution is to restrict access to some administrators by clicking on the tab - members - Manage ACP Restrictions There are no ACP restrictions for the license key section... there needs to be one though
