John Swallow Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 When did showing the member's "Interests" get added to Topic view (i.e. when you're viewing a topic in the left hand column you can see the person's name, their avatar, where they're from etc). I'm sure it wasn't there before RC2 - and adding it is really blowing my screen out on my test board. Many of my members have written *a lot* in that field, and so showing that every time one of those people posts the screen looks frankly ridiculous. I know I can take it out again by editing the skin, but I was kind of trying to avoid having to edit anything other than logos when we change to the new version as it makes upgrading so much easier! :)
Graeme S. Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 You can take it out by editing the custom profile field rather than editing the skin.
John Swallow Posted June 13, 2009 Author Posted June 13, 2009 That's definitely something I've never come across before. :) Thank you ever so much!
Martin A. Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I don't like it being there. It's not relevant to the post, and not something I need to know about everyone. If I want to see more info about a member, I view their profile. It should either have an on/off switch, or be completely removed.
Ryan H. Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I agree that it shouldn't be shown on topic view, at least not by default.
Brandon D Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I removed my interests so it wouldn't show up. There doesn't need to be a wall of text next to my wall of texts :P
Michael Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 It's not a bug. It's a custom profile field just like any other, IPS just set the field up on this site to show in the topic view too.
sunrisecc Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I now see that there is a master switch in the APC under CPU etc. Thank you Michael.
